stadtrandsurfer: SRSF September Session

Fuerteventura ist des Stadtrandsurfers liebste Surfdestination. In den letzten sieben Jahren waren es nicht weniger als neun Trips auf das kanarische Eiland. Warum eigentlich?

Fuerteventura is the stadtrandsurfer’s favorite surfdestination. In the last seven years we count not less than nine visits to the island. But why?

Mittlerweile ist es, als käme man nach Hause: über die Jahre liebgewonnene Freunde warten, die Umgebung ist vertraut, man kennt seine Lieblings-Surfspots und trotzdem entdeckt man jedes Mal etwas Neues.

In den letzten Jahren suchten wir so ziemlich jedes Weihnachten Zuflucht auf Fuerteventura und das immer in Corralejo, der Touristenhochburg des Nordens. Also war es Zeit für einen Ortswechsel! So kamen wir auf das „Lajares Surf House“- nicht zuletzt aufgrund unseres Freundes Lazi Ruedegger, der in dem 1600 Seelen-Örtchen aufgewachsen ist. (Mehr über Lazi findet ihr auf www.lazislife.com)

It is like coming home: friendships that have built up over the years, the surrounding infrastructure is known, favorite surfspots got selected and still one can discover new things every time.

In the past years we always managed to escape our christmas time to visit Fuerteventura / Corralejo, the tourist stronghold in the north. So we felt it was time for a location change. We found the „LajaresSurf House“ due to our firend Lazi, who grew up in the small village with only 1600 inhabitants. (More info on Lazi at www.lazislife.com)

Lajares ist schon lange kein Geheimtipp mehr, dennoch konnte das multikulturelle Dörfchen seinen Charme bewahren. Neben netten kleine Bars, Restaurants, Surfshops und einem wöchentlichen Kunstmarkt besticht der Ort vor allem durch seine ideale Lage: in wenigen Autominuten sind alle Surfspots der North Shore erreichbar und man ist dennoch fernab des touristischen Treibens - perfekt für uns, um die Seele baumeln zu lassen und sich zu erholen.

Ein solider Nord-West-Swell zwischen 1,5 und 1,9 m, Windstille am Morgen und angenehme Temperaturen an Land als auch im Wasser bescherten uns optimale Sufbedingungen. „Eat, sleep, surf, repeat“ - mehr war nicht drin, es war einfach zu fein!!!!

Lajares is no secret spot anymore, still it managed to keep its charming side. Next to sweet little bars, restaurants, surfshops and a weekly art-market, the village is located perfectly for surfers. In just a few minutes by car one can reach all the famous breaks of the north shore and still be save of tourism. A perfect place to leave you worries behind and relax. Solid swell from the north west and waves from 5-6,5 feet (1,5-1,9m), little wind in the mornings and nice temperatures outside and in the water created perfect surfing conditions. „Eat, sleep, surf, repeat“ – it’s not more, not less. It was amazing!!!!
